Idaho heat rules for high school sports.

Idaho's current activity regulations publish practical heat-stress precautions but not a statewide environmental stop-work table.

What coaches need to know

  • Water must be on the field, readily available at all times, and athletes should never have access restricted.
  • IHSAA recommends at least a 10-minute water break for every 20 minutes of heavy exercise in heat.
  • Conditioning should progress gradually for heat acclimatization, with coaches watching closely for nausea, weakness, vomiting, cramps, visual disturbance, or unsteadiness.
  • The regulations do not publish a statewide numeric WBGT or heat-index cancellation table; follow the school plan.
No statewide numeric table is shown. The public source provides guidance without one complete operational action table, so PracticeCast does not invent thresholds.
