Minnesota publishes a 14-day football heat-acclimatization rule. The reviewed public handbook does not supply all-sport environmental action bands.
What coaches need to know
- Football uses an initial 14-calendar-day preseason heat-acclimatization period.
- During days 1–5, contact practice is prohibited, single practices may not exceed 2 hours, and total daily practice may not exceed 4 hours.
- Two-a-day schedules require recovery time and alternating single-practice days during the acclimatization period.
- The public handbook reviewed does not provide an all-sport numeric forecast-action table; confirm the current rule with the school or MSHSL.
